Welcome back to 'Blue Water High' - in the second series of the Logie Award winning teen drama, new faces mix with some of your favourites from series one including Sophie Luck as Fly, Martin Lynes as Simmo and Liz Burch as Jilly. Solar Blue is high performance surf acedemy where six lucky sixteen year-olds are selected for an intensive, twelve month residential surfing and schooling program. Selected from all over Australia, some have focused for years to get there while others have coasted in with natural confidence of those who know they've been born to succeed. But once these kids walk through the door, everyone is on a level playing field and facing the same challenge.

Everyone is experiencing the excitement of being at Solar Blue but like all teenagers, even though surfing is their consuming passion, these kids still have to face the reality checks of school, housework and mixing with their peers.

A year at Blue Water High is a year no one wants to miss. It's the ultimate teenage adventure.

Fly’s parents think she’s too young to join the pro-circuit but by way of consolation, have allowed her to spend another year at Blue Water to hone her skills under Simmo’s tutelage. This suits Fly down to the ground - at heart she’s still a homebody and has no sense of urgency about rushing off to compete in far away places. She still can’t actually believe she won last year so she’s quite happy to take her time and hang around for a while.

Simmo finds himself over stretched because Deb (Nadine Garner) has left for another job, Jilly is overseas and the new intake process is already underway.

Bec is still living locally so, Simmo asks her to stay on and help manage the household as a sort of stabilising influence. But it’s not long before she gets offered a place in a tertiary course she’s been desperate to get into.

Heath’s had time to develop plenty of new ideas about his future since leaving Solar Blue but none have come to fruition. Simmo offers Heath the job as the house ‘Big Brother’ to the new recruits. Heath is reluctant at first - cleaning and cooking aren’t his strong points - let alone taking responsibility for the new kids!!! But let’s face it - Heath has no other immediate prospects [none that he wants to think about anyway] so he accepts the position. Fly can’t believe that Heath - the least disciplined guy in last year’s group - is actually quite conservative when it comes to supervising others. In fact, he’s like a bad version of a head prefect from a 1960’s private boarding school.

The new recruits take their time to settle into the share house and learn how to cope with living away from their families. As with all people thrown together for their first time away from home, they’ll need a while to adjust to each others’ idiosyncrasies and Heath’s particular style of house management. But as they get to know each other through surf training and school activities, they start to bond and enjoy each other’s company - at least most of the time.

Schoolwork remains a prominent feature in their lives and striving to juggle study, domestic duties and surf training presents problems for all. During the course of the year, tentative romances and crushes will develop.

Garrulous Eric (Ryan Corr) finds his momentum being knocked sideways by Amy’s (Gabrielle Scollay) instinctive approach to life and fun.

Rachel (Taryn Marler) will find herself questioning her place at the school and Corey (Trent Dalzell) will have his controlled demeanour knocked for six when he realises how much he wants Rachel to stay.

Brooke’s (Lesley Anne Mitchell) methodical approach will help Mike (James Sorenson) get back on an even keel and they find they have a lot more in common than they first thought.

For all the bonding though, they can never forget that they are competing against each other for those highly coveted spots on the international pro-circuit.

We will be kept guessing until the final episode about just who are going to be the successful male and female competitors. Whatever the outcome, they will all have grown as individuals and learned lessons about themselves that will leave them well prepared for the years ahead. One thing is for certain: nobody will ever forget their time at Blue Water High.
