Danny Bhoy new DVD & Comedy Festival
Danny Bhoy - Set to film new DVD in 2009
Danny Bhoy’s 2009 Australian tour has kicked started with sold out shows in Brisbane, Sydney and regional Australia, and what is sure to be another phenomenal year for one of comedy’s most exciting talents. And after the success of Danny Bhoy Live at Sydney Opera House in 2007 Danny is delighted to announce he is filming his second DVD in his Australian adopted home town, Melbourne, at the historic Athenaeum Theatre on Monday 6th April 2009.
Danny's brand new show this year promises more memorable tales from the globe-trotting Scotsman. As possibly the most-travelled comedian in the world, he describes, sometimes in painfully funny detail, the less glamourous side of a comedian's life on the road. The successes and the failures, the loves and the losses. This is a show which evolves and grows in every town and village he sets foot in, on his never-ending quest to satisfy the inquisitive mind of restless comedian. Sometimes introspective, occassionally outlandish, these true stories from his life are sure to leave you with a smile on your face and wanderlust in your heart.
Danny has come a long way since he started stand up in 1998. He has shared billings with Ellen DeGeneres and Jerry Seinfeld, played charades with Adam Hills, has a ‘wee dog’ in South Australia named after him, induced a female fan’s labour in the Enmore Theatre with his anecdotes, was the target of a heckler’s bomb scare in Soho, is the first stand-up comedian to do an English speaking show in Mumbai, fell into the orchestra pit whilst performing in Ballarat and even managed to break up a relationship mid show.
"Subtle, intelligent, perceptive, observant and very, very funny"
George Shanks, The Scotsman, Nov 2008
As with all of Danny’s shows, where audiences have laughed at his deft observations and uncanny knack to deliver a good yarn, his latest material promises plenty of his own experiences with highlights from his new show being ‘From Cairns to Port Pirie’, ‘Montreal to Dublin’ and ‘Dunedin to Barcelona’.
"He had the crowd on side from the beginning and never let go. No surprise he got a standing O".
