Inspired by real life events, EIGHT BELOW is the thrilling story of friendship, adventure and loyalty. The tale begins at a science research base in the harsh environment of Antarctica, where a group of scientists and their guide, Jerry Shepard (Paul Walker - The Fast And The Furious) are based. The group rely on their team of eight, beautifully bred sled dogs to survive long expeditions. With Maya at the head of the pack, the group of Huskies and Malamutes are experts of snow and speed, relishing in their charge to travel the icy terrain.

The dogs' skills are put to the test after the arrival of American geologist, Davis McClaren to the base. After setting out on a research voyage for rare asteroid rocks, the scientist and Jerry face a fight against time as a severe storm closes in. Disaster strikes when Davis falls through the ice on their return to base, plunging into sub-zero water and as he fights for his life, Jerry relies on his team of dogs to return them to safety.

Upon returning to the base, Jerry finds his colleagues preparing to depart as the storm worsens. With limited space on the flight and a race to reach aid for the sick Davis, a reluctant Jerry is forced to leave his beloved dogs behind.

With the crew arriving on safe ground, the guide is told the bad news - no more flights will be allowed back to the research base for months, and his sled team are deserted. Stranded in Antarctica in one of the harshest winters on record, the eight dogs embark on a journey of survival and friendship.

Learning to work together, the team of dogs hunt for food, withstand the ruthless weather and protect one another from predators, while never giving hope that one day, someone might return to rescue them. It is their faithful guide Jerry who embarks on a mission to return to Antarctica to find his friends, despite everybody else giving them up for dead.
