Australian-owned Fashion Palette, hosted by Ruby Rose (MTV), is the world's first ever event to allow budding fashion designers and members of the public the chance to learn from some of the world's leading fashion figures.
Over two days, many of the biggest names in the fashion arena including Peter
Morrissey, Mimco, Alpha60, Arturo Elena, Style Hunter, Insight, Daniel Herman
will share their personal career journey, each presenting a 45-minute stimulating,
interactive and visual talk in front of VIP guests and the Australian public.
Founder and director of Fashion Palette, Sonya Mefaddi says, "As a world first,
Fashion Palette will showcase some of the biggest names in the fashion industry who
will educate and inspire the next generation of designers by sharing their personal
journeys, creative processes, business processes and keys to their success."

The Australian fashion community will be the first to experience a new, interactive fashion event, Fashion Palette.
With a well-earned reputation as elitist and insular, the Australian
fashion industry welcomes new ideas with the wild indifference of a
catwalk model at a chocolate factory. Egalitarian it is not, which is
perhaps why there has been an inordinate amount of buzz over the
Fashion Palette event which promises to bring fashion back to the
public.
The idea is to allow budding fashion designers and members of the
public the chance to learn from some of the world's leading fashion
figures. Twelve leading designers will each share the ins and outs of
their career journeys.
The premier Fashion Palette will be held over two days and features
many of the biggest names in the fashion arena including Peter
Morrissey, Mimco, Insight, Alpha60, InStyle, Arturo Elena, Style
Hunter, Check, Stand, White Sands and Daniel Herman.
Notoriously difficult to access,these designers will each present a 45-minute interactive lecture and
Q and A session, followed by runway shows and floor discussions.
There is a timely, counter-couture atmosphere surrounding the upstart
event, as it presents itself in the shadows of Sydney's larger and
internationally regarded Rosemount fashion week. The current financial
climate lends a legitimacy to any attempt to break open the jealously
guarded fashion industry coffers and Fashion Palette has received warm
and enthusiastic support from the media and the general public.
The first Fashion Palette Excellence Awards, a national fashion awards
program which aims to recognise the best emerging Australian fashion
designers has been open to public entries and, according to Fashion
Palette director, Sonya Mefaddi, already far exceeded expectations.
Winners of the Award's four categories (Fashion Design; Accessory
Design; Capturing Fashion; People's Choice) will be named at the
Fashion Palette event on 2nd May 2009 in Sydney, where the overall
winner will also be announced.
Fashion Palette will take place on 1st-2nd May 2009 at the Sydney
Convention and Exhibition Centre, Sydney, NSW.
