E! ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION ANNOUNCES NEW NONSCRIPTED SERIES STARRING CELEBRITY MOM DINA LOHAN AND DAUGHTER ALI LOHAN
Bunim-Murray Productions and Maloof Television Present "Living Lohan"
(Working Title), Debuting Summer 2008 on E!
(E! is available on FOXTEL and AUSTAR Channel 121)
E! Entertainment Television will debut a new nonscripted series starring celebrity mom extraordinaire Dina Lohan and her youngest daughter, up-and-coming teen star Ali Lohan (14).
Viewers will go inside the Lohan's Long Island home for the first time to follow Dina as she works double duty as mum and manager to help Ali try to follow in her big sister's famous footsteps and pursue her own shot at stardom. Co-produced by Bunim-Murray Productions and Maloof Television, "Living Lohan" (Working Title) will debut summer 2008 on E!
Dina has faced intense scrutiny over the past year due to daughter Lindsay's (21) highly publicised mishaps and her long-simmering divorce from her ex-husband. But the Lohan family has demonstrated great resiliency and, with Dina at the helm, they are moving on with their lives. Dina is determined to help each of her four kids ulfil their dreams and refuses to live in fear of what others may think, despite being under the paparazzi microscope.
E!'s cameras will follow the single mom every step of the way as she manages Lindsay's hectic schedule, while helping Ali jump start her music and acting career. This takes the family to the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, where Ali will record tracks for the Maloof's Interscope-based record label. Having grown up in the shadow of her sister's stardom and much publicised lifestyle, Ali is determined to achieve her own brand of success. But Dina is more experienced this time around and will do everything she can to protect Ali from the pressures and temptations of young Hollywood.
The series will also feature Dina keeping track of her son Cody (11) whose sports teams, homework and endless energy are enough to keep any soccer mom busy, as well as her older son, on-the-go college student Michael (20). Viewers will get to know the Lohan's close-knit extended family as well.
"The Lohans are one of the most intriguing families in the entertainment industry today," said Lisa Berger, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Series Development for E! "This is a family that knows how to roll with the punches and come out on top. Dina is an incredibly hard-working, passionate mum that I think our viewers will find both relatable and highly entertaining."
"We are excited to be in business with the Lohan family and E! and look forward to a memorable series," said Phil Maloof, Chairman and CEO, Maloof Productions. "This series will provide an entertaining and unprecedented look at one of the most recognized families in America."
"We've been given unprecedented access to Dina Lohan and her kids lives; as a result, our series will deliver a powerful story that will both surprise and delight E!'s viewers," said Jonathan Murray, President, Bunim-Murray Productions.
Executive Producers for the series are Jon Murray, Laura Korkoian and Jeff Jenkins for Bunim-Murray Productions and Phil Maloof and Andrew Jameson for Maloof Television.
Living Lohan
E! goes behind the scenes to reveal the real life of Dina Lohan and her
family in 'Living Lohan'. The new reality series that focuses on the
hectic life of Dina Lohan and her youngest daughter Ali as they work to
jumpstart Ali’s burgeoning music career.
Forget everything you’ve ever heard about Dina Lohan. E! takes viewers
through the front doors and into the home of this famous mum and manager
and her two youngest children to reveal that their lives are not all
about the glitz, glamour and partying reported in magazines. Instead,
the day-to-day life of the Lohan household is a frenzy of typical
domestic activity presided over by Dina. While her mum, Nana provides
support for the family, Dina makes sure her 11-year-old son Cody
completes his homework and makes it to soccer practice on time; that Ali
doesn’t over-do it in her quest to step out of her sister’s shadow and
stand on her own as a recording artist; and that she herself is making
the right decisions for the well-being of her family.
Despite the intense media scrutiny she has endured, Dina is like most
working mums who are constantly striving to find the perfect balance
between career and family. Although her two oldest children have moved
out of the house, Dina alone manages a chaotic household that includes a
teenage daughter, a tween son, five small dogs and all the commotion
that comes with it.
This season, viewers will be given a peek behind the curtain to see what
the life of a Lohan is really all about. After successfully launching
the acting and music careers of her oldest daughter Lindsay, Dina is
working hard to be sure Ali’s dream of becoming a recording artist is
fulfilled. In the first episode, Dina and Ali meet with producers to
find songs Ali can use to record a demo, but Ali doesn’t like any of the
options. Instead Dina tracks down a new, young songwriter/producer named
Jeremy who creates a series of tracks for Ali to record that she
instantly loves. However, when a newspaper article quotes Jeremy saying
that he’s dating Lindsay when he’s never met her, both Dina and Ali are
up in arms.
The demo deal Dina negotiates for Ali includes Ali, Coby, Nana and Ali’s
vocal coach to Las Vegas so the family can spend time together while Ali
works on her demo tracks at The Studio in the Palms Casino Resort for
the Maloof’s Interscope-based record label. Ali’s determined to record
great tracks that will get her a deal for a full album, and Dina will do
everything it takes to make sure that happens for her.
But its’ not all work and no play in a city where just about anything is
possible. The family is welcomed to Las Vegas with a party hosted by the
Maloof brothers at the beautiful Palms Sky Villas where they mingle with
the players who could be instrumental in launching Ali’s career as a
recording artist. Dina allows herself to have a little fun when she has
dinner with master magician and Las Vegas mainstay Lance Burton, and she
and Cody run into Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in the Palms Casino
Resort.
The life of a Lohan may not be all the party-filled nights the media
reports, but it’s certainly never boring. You won’t want to miss a
minute of the action when Living Lohan premieres on Tuesday, June 17 at
9.30pm only on E!
Executive Producers for the series are Jon Murray, Laura Korkoian and
Jeff Jenkins for Bunim-Murray Productions and Dina Lohan, Phil Maloof
and Andrew Jameson for Maloof Television.
