Mostly Sunny with a Chance of Storms
Further adventures in the often misguided world of Sunny Hathaway…
In this sequel to 2008's 'Sunny Side Up' 11 year old Sunny's expertly blended, thoroughly modern family move into Granny Carmelene's mansion Windermere. And while Sunny wins the turret bedroom (through her powers of Reverse Psychology), she is soon tangled up in mischief involving bored dogs, a cranky old gardner, an angel-sighting, a match-making mission and a boy who knits. To make matters worse, over at her dad's house, Sunny's baby half-sister Flora has turned the world upside-down, and Steph can't seem to find a way to turn it right-side-up again. Even with a sunny disposition, storm clouds can gather on the horizon, and this winter Sunny must find ways to offer warmth and shelter to those she cares for most.
'Sunny Side Up is a high-heat, quick-rising, multi-flavoured delight. Sunny has a wonderfully strong voice, and shares her world and her sometimes chaotic thoughts with the reader with humour and some introspection. Marion Roberts gives us a view into a simplicity and complexity of Sunny's eleven year-old brain. There are too many potential points for discussion to mention here- families, forgiveness, friends, understanding of others are just a few. Highly recommended for 9-12 year old readers.' -Aussie Reviews.
'Sunny Side Up is Marion Roberts' first novel. It is gentle and humorous and sad all at once. For me, personally, it has the added pleasure of being set in the Melbourne suburb where I live.'- Sue Bursztynski, January Magazine.
'This is a debut novel with spunky and clever writing told in first person, in a strong and singular voice. Its humourous look at families, their differences and conflicts, and how they are handled, is most entertaining'. - Anastasia Gonis.
Marion Robertsalways wanted to be a fashion designer, but she studied science, alternative medicine, psychotherapy and psychology instead. She also worked a sa chef and taught people how to cook. Marion started writing because she wanted a job she could do in her pajamas. Also, her friends kept saying her emails were too long, and she needed to find another place to put her stories. She was born in Melbourne, which has always been her home town. Marion's first book featuring the irrepressible Sunny Hathaway, Sunny Side Up, was published in 2008.
