Coffee, chocolate, tea, spice ‘n’ all things nice on a winter Sunday

Stimulate your senses with the aroma of freshly ground coffee and spices and savour fine chocolate and tea at The Rocks Aroma Festival on Sunday 22 July.

Indulge in the most wondrous sensory experience at The Rocks Aroma Festival -for lovers of coffee, fine chocolate, tea and spice. Building on nine years of its hugely popular coffee program, this year is set to offer visitors even more with the introduction of chocolate, tea and spices.

For the first time, visitors to Aroma can stimulate their taste buds with chocolate creations from leading chocolatiers, sample exotic teas, enjoy spice-laden treats as well as sip coffee from boutique and brand name roasters.

Chocoholics will delight in the chocolate tent, home to the most mouth-watering indulgences of the festival, including organic varieties. Tea lovers will enjoy a wide selection of black, green and flavoured teas such as chai at the tea stalls. Dip into an aromatic haven at the spice stalls, featuring a wide selection of winter warmer spices to enhance your cooking this winter.

Spice up your culinary skills with a visit to the Overseas Passenger Terminal lifestyle forecourt. Discover the latest in cooking with coffee, chocolate and chilli. Learn how to tell the difference between cardamom and cumin and to cook with confidence using za’atar and garam masala.

The festival features the smallest of roasters next to bigger coffee houses, all offering their roasts and blends to the public for as little as $1 per cup. Enjoy comparing the different roasts as you wander through Sydney’s heritage quarter.

The Rocks was home to Australia’s first coffee, chocolate and spice traders. The Bushells tea warehouse at The Rocks, erected in 1925, was the first purpose built tea production store in the country. The Andronicus brothers established Australia's first chocolate shop and coffee roasting business in 1904, roasting 90kg of coffee every day from their store at George St, The Rocks.
