This edgy 2D animation series ignites kids’ curiosity, while subtly poking fun at our everyday world through the spectacular prism of a mysterious plughole. Staines Down Drains explores what happens when two kids learn to meet bold challenges in their daily lives with the help of some funny friends down the drains, which is guaranteed to entertain curious kids week after week.
Staines Down Drains tells of the adventures of 11-year-old twins, John Stanley and Mary-Jane Staines, who discover the ability to venture down their plughole into the amazing world of drains beneath their town, Lupin Lane. There, John Stanley and Mary-Jane find a variety of bizarre, but mainly friendly, creatures - including talking hairballs, walking vegetables, and plughole patrollers all oozing with attitude.
Whilst exploring the gurgling drains, John Stanley and Mary-Jane fast discover Drain Land society is under threat from the ominous, self appointed director of Drains. Who is this shadowy figure and what’s his big plan for Drain Land? Could he be human like the Staines? In the course of the series, the Staines kids undertake the challenge of saving not only the drains, but also their home town Lupin Lane, from the somewhat evil Dr Drain and his army of green Gobblers.
Review:
A facinating look at the untouchable and unmentionable topics that effect our everyday life. Well written, creative and thought provoking.
