2014 Christmas Fundraising Appeal: Rare Blinky Bill Cels Auction

Blinky Bill fans will have the rare opportunity to own a slice of Australian animation history, while supporting future generations of animators and storytellers when 25 special edition hand-painted, signed animation cels of the loveable koala and his friends are auctioned as part of ACMI's 2014 Christmas Fundraising Appeal, with all proceeds going to ACMI Education programs.

These never-before-seen Blinky Bill cels will be made available to the public for the first time in the history of Yoram Gross Film Studio, creators of legendary Australian animation characters such as Dot and the Kangaroo, Tabaluga, and Flipper and Lopaka.

Fans of the Blinky Bill stories, which are still read in Australian classrooms today and adored by young and old, can now share in its iconic history. Yoram Gross has kindly donated 25 individually hand-painted, signed cels featuring the mischievous koala and his friends animated against lush bush backdrops. The cels are available to purchase online at leonardjoel.com.au in the Blinky Bill Animation Auction from 21 November – 4 December 2014, with funds going towards ACMI Education programs.

In 2013, ACMI welcomed over 65,000 students and teachers to learn more about the moving image, including important Australian characters such as Blinky Bill. Donations will help ACMI provide the resources it needs to continue to inspire the creative potential of students, teachers and aspiring moving image makers.

The appeal will be launched with a special screening of the children's classic, Blinky Bill: The Mischievous Koala on Saturday 22 November at 10.00am. Ticket prices are $7 and all proceeds will go towards the Appeal.
