Move Over Usain. Aaron Finch may be in for a Career Change
Renowned Aussie cricketer, Aaron Finch has proved that a training session with
the world's fastest man and global Gatorade ambassador, Usain Bolt, helped him take out the
coveted award of The Gatorade Fastest Run. Finch recorded an explosive Bolt Rate of 30.15
kph, during the first Gillette One Day International Series!
Bolt Rate is an exciting new metric which measures the fastest run speed between the wickets,
using Catapult GPS tracking technology, the official technology used by Cricket Australia.
Ahead of the season, the Australian Men's Cricket Team received a special helping hand from
the legendary Usain Bolt. Usain held a one-off training session at the Melbourne Cricket
Ground in early December to prepare the team for the new stat.
Aaron Finch responded to the exciting announcement, stating 'To say I'm honoured would be
a big understatement. With cricket being incredibly competitive, the end results can come
down to your speed between the wickets. Obviously training is a massive part of being a
professional sportsman, so to come out with the fastest Bolt Rate is bloody exciting."
Usain Bolt weighed in on Aaron Finch taking out top spot, noting 'Aaron's performance has
been nothing short of incredible during the summer of cricket. If he continues to increase his
speed, I'll have to watch out, as he may be in the market for a career change!"
'I know the boys have a bit of friendly banter on and off the field, and I hope The Gatorade
Fastest Run was another way the team, and Aussies, were able to get involved in the game."
Jamie Bruce, Gatorade, said 'Consistently topping the leaderboard, we're ecstatic to award
