Antibiotics & Thrush

When we catch colds and fall ill with bacterial infections, we are often given prescriptions to take antibiotic drugs. These drugs have been effective over the past decades in killing off these bacteria.

Unfortunately, they are not effective against viruses. And some bacteria are mutating which defies the benefits and effects of antibiotics. This can lead to the antibiotics killing off "friendly" bacteria in the gut - this is necessary for the absorption of vitamins and nutrients.

Therefore the excessive use of antibiotics can increase the incidence of candida albicons - a yeast like fungus which causes thrush, tinea and some skin rashes.

You can help your body recreate the gut with the "friendly" bacteria by eating foods that contain probiotics like Acidophilus bifudus and bilgarious strains - these can be found in most good yoghurts.

SO EAT UP!
