Antonio Marras Hair Look for S/S 2011

Backstage at Milan Fashion Week with Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Wella Professionals: Creating the Hair Look for Antonio Marras S/S '11

The Look: 'Rock 'n' Romance'
The S/S '11 Antonio Marras collection showed an eclectic mix of soft shapes in a toned down palette where texture played the starring role. Loosely tied open backed dresses featuring contrasting sheer and embroidered panels, gave more than a glimpse of '50s inspired underwear in white and taupe. By contrast, the hair look, created by Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Wella Professionals, Care and Styling, saw a 'grungier' side of the Antonio Marras girl. "I wanted to create a hair look that stood out against the pretty, romantic clothes" said Eugene.

For the hair look, Eugene created an ultra tousled look, with extra 'frizz' as he wanted the girls to look as though they had slept in the hair look and then run their fingers through it. The overall effect was a romantic take on a 'rock 'n' roll look, which was both soft and hard at the same time.

Get the Look:
Start with freshly washed and conditioned hair, and apply Crystal Styler from the Wella Professionals High Hair range before blow drying hair straight but without creating volume. Apply Wella Professionals System Professional Diamond Reflect just across the top of the head. Then placing one hand just below the sprayed area to hold the hair still, rub against the grain of the hair with the other hand to push against the cuticle and to create a 'halo' of fly away hairs.

Spray Wella Professionals High Hair Ocean Sprizz on the ends of the hair then roughly part into two sections and twist the hair softly forward, then using a diffuser dry the product in to the hair from the bottom of the hair up, making it over dry. Clip this section up to hold the twist while repeating on other side of the head. Undo the clips and shake the hair out (do not brush) - tousle the hair through the scalp to lose the parting. Finally, take hair in small sections and roll between the palms of the hands to create a more textured look.
