Australia's home grown baby education tool 'Baby2'
Baby2, the first series of infant development DVDs to be researched, written and produced in Australia for Australian babies, was launched today across the country.Baby2 was designed to give children the best possible start in life. Unlike similar products, it does not promise to make a child more intelligent nor is it intended to be used as a video baby sitter.
Rather, Baby2 works on the principle that the best educational toy a child can have is its family and friends. The four DVDs have been especially designed for parents and caregivers to watch together with newborns to toddlers aged 24 months and beyond.
Each Baby2 DVD combines music, dance and song to help parents and caregivers interact more effectively with their little ones and improve their ability to learn through productive play. The DVDs provide a number of fun and practical productive play suggestions that can be easily replicated at home. The series includes:
1. 'Sensations' - Which stimulates and expands a baby's fundamental senses.
2. 'Imagination' - Which helps baby focus and engage in imaginative play.
3. 'Exploration' - Which helps baby explore space and size relationships.
4. 'Discovery' - Which helps baby understand the principles of cause and effect.
What's different about Baby2 is it's 100% Australian made. Unlike other baby education tools available, which have all been produced in the United States for American babies, Baby2 features all Australian babies and accents.
Baby2 was developed by Innovative House, makers of the popular Peace Baby relaxation CDs, in collaboration with The Parent Infant Research Institute, a leading Australian research organisation focused on improving relationships between infants and their parents.
Professor Jeannette Milgrom, CEO of The Parent Infant Research Institute and Professor of Psychology at Melbourne University, believes that playing with baby is key to healthy development. "The communication a baby receives in the first few months of life lays the foundations for learning and emotional regulation. During this time, there's a great opportunity for parents to build a relationship with their child and encourage learning and development."
Numerous research studies conducted across the world suggest that a baby can understand hundreds of words by the time it can speak, so it's never too early to start contributing to infant development.
Each DVD contains two sections: 'Just for Parents,' featuring background information and tips for productive play and 'Babies and Parents,' featuring lively music, colourful animation and footage of parents and babies engaging in productive play.
The productive play techniques in Baby2 are designed for three development stages: rockers (0-6 months), crawlers (6-12 months) and walkers (12-24 months).
Baby2 is available from Safeway and Woolworths stores across Australia. Each DVD has a RRP of $19.95 and runs for around 60 minutes. The Baby2 series is distributed by Innovative House and Nice Pak Products Pty Ltd. For a full list of stockist details contact 1800 506 750 or visit www.baby2.com.au
