Barre Body

Since opening in Melbourne's Flinders Lane in late 2011, Barre Body has been reshaping the bodies of local devotees with a schedule of fun, dynamic and fast-moving classes that fuse yoga and barre conditioning - a trend which has been gathering pace globally over the past twelve months.

With celeb fans espousing the incredible toning benefits of barre-centric exercises, Barre Body founder, Emma Seibold, decided to incorporate barre conditioning work into her post-baby yoga practice to gently yet quickly regain her pre-pregnancy shape. Amazed with the results, Emma swiftly went about setting up Barre Body, a beautiful fitness studio offering classes aimed at simultaneously shaping one's body and mind.

With one centrally-based Melbourne studio and more in the pipeline, Barre Body offers signature Barre Body and Barre Moves classes as well as a complementary schedule of yoga. There is a focus on the physical at Barre Body; all classes are strong and dynamic, offering physical results while clearing the mind.

The Barre classes combine yoga and barre conditioning to tone one's whole body (think long and lean like a ballet dancer), while developing balance, strength and flexibility. The most popular classes are Barre Body, which integrate the fat burning format of interval trai ing, the muscle shaping techniques of isometrics, the elongating principles of dance conditioning, the flexibility of yoga, and the core strength of pilates to create a dynamic and highly effective workout that shapes and tones one's entire body in one hour. Clients will see results in just 10 sessions.

The founder Emma Seibold is a certified yoga teacher, holistic health & nutrition coach and former gymnast. She has trained with schools in Australia and overseas and continues to develop and expand her yoga and barre practice with training trips to New York and India planned in 2012. After a career in marketing, in 2009 Emma founded the cult juice detox program, Urban Remedy Cleanse. In August 2011, she had a lovely little baby named Xavier (who you will probably see around the studio enthusiastically practicing his downward dog and happy baby posture). She has enormous passion for all things relating to wellness and strives to lead a balanced life - eating well, living well, loving well and exercising well.

The studio Tucked inside the tranquil endota spa (69 Flinders Lane, Melbourne), Barre Body is a beautiful, warm and intimate space. A Sydney studio and another Melbourne studio (inner east) are also planned for the second half of 2012.

Barre Body Founder - Emma Seibold
As founder of both Barre Body and Urban Remedy Cleanse, Emma Seibold is something of a force of nature. The pocket rocket blonde radiates the kind of glow that only comes from wholesome living; she clearly practices what her health-focused businesses preach.

While always having an interest in health, fitness and yogic mindfulness, it was not until 2009 that Emma left behind a 10 year career in marketing and found her new career calling as a wellness entrepreneur. Mid quarter-life crisis (complete with relationship breakdown, sale of house and voluntary redundancy), Emma decided to spend some time in India, where the universe presented a unique business opportunity.

Upon her return, Urban Remedy Cleanse was born – a one, three, or five day health cleanse where nutritious and delicious juices are delivered fresh to your home. The concept was new to Australia and took off to such an extent that, in just a few short years, Emma was able to hand over the reigns and pour her energies into motherhood and her latest venture, Barre Body.

Opening in late 2011, Barre Body was born from two things: the birth of Emma's first child, Xavier, in August 2011 and her subsequent desire to gently yet quickly regain her pre-baby bod; and the trend overseas (endorsed by many a celeb) for fitness classes incorporating barre conditioning work. One look at a ballet dancer's body and you can see the appeal of barre training - think long, lean, feminine physiques.

'After my baby was born, I started incorporating ballet barre conditioning to my yoga practice to firm up and lose the lingering baby weight. After only a few weeks I noticed that my body was leaner, longer and more toned, and now my body is in the best condition it has ever been in, ' says Emma.

With a talent for tapping into the zeitgeist, Emma has again brought the public just what they were looking for - a fun, strong and dynamic fitness method that combines elements of yoga, pilates, isometrics and barre conditioning.

With one centrally-based Melbourne studio and more in the pipeline (across Melbourne and possibly Sydney), Barre Body offers signature Barre Body and Barre Moves classes as well as a complementary schedule of yoga. There is a focus on the physical at Barre Body; all classes are strong and dynamic, offering physical results while clearing the mind.

As well as her business acumen, Emma's fitness credentials are more than solid. A certified yoga teacher, holistic health & nutrition coach and former gymnast, she has trained with schools in New York, India, Sydney, Melbourne and Byron Bay and continues to develop and expand her yoga and barre practice with training trips to New York and India planned in 2012. Emma has enormous passion for all things relating to wellness and strives to lead a balanced life; eating well, living well, loving well and exercising well.
