Washing and drying your hands after using the bathroom. It's a simple, everyday task that has been instilled in us from a very young age like brushing your teeth, running a comb through your hair, tying your shoelaces…
However, research from Dyson & YouGov of 1,000 Australians has revealed that a lot of us, aren't actually nailing basic bathroom hygiene!
To launch the new Dyson Airblade 9kJ hand dryer, the survey revealed:
89% of Australians have witnessed someone leave the bathroom without washing or drying their hands;
But only a quarter (27%) admit to not washing and drying their hands every time they go to the toilet
Men (74%) are more likely than women (68%) to say that they have seen someone leave a public bathroom without washing their hands, while women (13%) are more likely than men (9%) to have never seen anyone leave a public bathroom without washing or drying their hands.
Baby Boomers (92%) are more likely than Millennials (86%) and Gen X (87%) to have seen someone leave a public bathroom without washing or drying their hands
So, what are the reasons WHY people are opting to bypass basic hygiene practices?
When it comes to washing their hands, 21% of Aussies believe that they don't need to wash every time they go to the loo and 16% think that their hands don't get dirty every time!
Whereas with drying their hands, 30% of Aussies wipe their hands on their clothes, say there was no drying option (28%) and think that they don't need to dry their hands every time (25%).
