After writing the hid dance movie Stomp the Yard, writer/director Robert Adetuyi has created another dance movie - Beat the World - the first film to blend hip-hop and parkour (free running). In the hope of being named the world's best, three international dance crews battle each other and their own pasts as they bring a new explosive combination of dance styles to the stage.
Filled with heart-pumping dance moves and sexy hip hop soundtrack, the film focuses on the crews who enter the international Beat the World competition held in Detroit. Fusion is a crew that comes from the streets of Windsor, a city that sits across the bridge from Detroit.
With the competition being held so close to Fusion's backyard, Yuson, the crew's leader, is determined to win. He invents a fresh dance style that is a mix of hip-hop and parkour. Yuson's long-time girlfriend Maya is tired of being second in his life, and decides to move on and pursue her own dreams. Now, not only does Yuson have to excel for his crew, he needs to win the contest to prove his worth to himself, and his girl.
Beat the World features some of the most innovative and exciting hip-hop dancers and musical artist working today including fast-rising stars Tryone Brown, Mishael Morgan, Kristy Flores, Christian Loclair, Lil' Steph, Shane Pollar, Lil' C, amongst others. The film features chorography by USA's Sho-Tyme, Brazil's Pink Ladies, Germany's world-title dance crew, The Flying Steps and Japanese sensation the Gogo Brothers. The phenomenal parkour talents of Chase Armitage and Nathan Barris from the UK's 3Run Media are also on show.
