Blak Markets to Barangaroo

Aboriginal art, crafts, bushfoods and entertainment will fill Sydney's spectacular harbour headland park as the iconic Blak Markets return to Barangaroo Reserve on Sunday, 24 September.

 

Presented by First Hand Solutions, the much-loved Blak Markets will pop-up at Stargazer Lawn from 10am to 4pm for a lively open-air market with more than 20 stalls selling a range of unique products and food by Aboriginal makers and food producers from around New South Wales. 

 

The day will begin with a smoking ceremony at 10.15am by Margret Campbell from Dreamtime Southern X, followed by live music, dance performances, workshops and traditional Indigenous games for children.

 

Triple J Unearthed High Indigenous Award winner, 16-year-old Indigenous singer-songwriter Rebecca Hatch will perform live; the Ngaran Ngaran traditional dancers will run dance workshops for children and adults; and Larry Brandy Storytellers will present interactive hunting and gathering performances for children.

 

A live bush tucker cooking demonstration will be hosted by celebrity chef, The Black Olive (Mark Olive) and the Tribal Warrior bushfood van will be serving up delicious bush tucker alongside a range of local Aboriginal food producers.
