Boys Will Be Boys - what they REALLY mean?!

In case you haven't already realised girls, males are a strange species! They insist on having a whole set of rules, language and codes of their own in a bid to persuade us girls into buying their little lines! Recently GIRL went into investigative mode and uncovered the truth behind those lines.

Like the all-time classic - "It's A Guy Thing!" This is the ultimate excuse to bail out of a difficult predicament and when translated basically means "there is no rational thought pattern connected with it and we (as females) have no chance at all of making it logical."

Ever heard the "It Would Take Too Long To Explain" line? This is a poor response for, "I really haven't the faintest idea of how it works so I can't be bothered bluffing my way through it."

The next time your partner mutters "That's interesting Babe!" don't take it to mean that he really IS interested in what you have to say. This is the oldest cop-out line for "Haven't you finished talking yet? The Footy has nearly started!"

Now there is nothing a gal likes to receive more than a spontaneous bunch of flowers from her boyfriend, right? But if the last time your boyfriend bought you flowers was three years ago and suddenly turns around one day and blurts out "I was just thinking about you and got you these roses", be suspicious! When translated, this stands for "The girl selling them on the corner was a real babe so I went for a closer look. We're going to the movies tomorrow night."

The next time you confront your boyfriend about his gambling problem and he offers you the excuse "Hey I've got my reasons for what I'm doing" take heart. When translated he is actually biding time while thinking in his panic state, "No not really but I sure hope I think of some pretty soon!" If a guy thinks he can take the easy way out of a sticky situation he will! The famous line "I heard you" translates to "I haven't got a clue of what you just said and am hoping desperately that I can fake it well enough so that you won't spend the next 3 days yelling at me". And more to the point, if it requires too much effort, then it's a lost cause! The often-used line "I can't find it" is an indication that "it didn't fall into my outstretched hands so I'm completely clueless". And then there is the "I was listening to you, it's just that I had other things on my mind" line often heard in strained situations. The other thing on his mind darls is the Blondie over there from which he bought your lovely roses!

You are out with your boyfriend shopping and hesitantly decide to try on a cute little number, which you think makes your bum look too big! Your boyfriend shouts outs "You Look Terrific" after only briefly glancing at your outfit. Just what every girl wants to hear right? Well girls don't be easily fooled! This popular line basically translates to "Oh God, please don't try on one more outfit, I'm starving." As the saying goes boys will be boys!

If the object of your affections regularly makes a habit of dishing out this one-liner, "You know I could never love anyone else", let it serve as a warning to you! Your man has reached a comfort zone and is not budging! What he really means to say is "I am used to the way you yell at me and realise it could be worse."

For those younger girls, remember this question in the future: "Can I help you with dinner?" It is a cover-up for "Why isn't it already on the table?"

And keeping with the theme of boys being boys, the next time your partner accidentally cuts himself and implores you not to make a fuss, because "It's just a small cut and no big deal", quietly chuckle to yourself. Even if they have a severed limb, boys would rather bleed to death before they admit to their girlfriends that they're hurt. Typical!

So what has GIRL's findings concluded? Males would rather skirt around an issue and avoid confrontation than actually speak the truth for fear of getting themselves in trouble or losing a potential "option". Boys like to have their cake and eat it too, to which they'd unashamedly say to this "And what's wrong with that?" The GIRL brigade rest their case!
