TRIMMING THE BUSH: NEW MANSCAPING SURVEY EXPOSES THE TRUTH BEHIND
WHAT MEN & WOMEN REALLY WANT
A new survey has uncovered the truth about the much debated grooming habits of Aussie men below the neckline. Results show that a whopping 63 percent of men between 18-35 years admit to manscaping their body, showing that male body-grooming is on the rise as young men compete for the opposite sex's attention.
The research, commissioned by the new Braun BodycruZer, reveals the most common area for Aussie men to manscape is the groin region (56%), followed by the chest (16%) and back (8%). Adding further fuel to the manscaping debate, the research highlighted the increasing popularity of the trend, with 79 percent of Aussie men agreeing that they believe attitudes towards manscaping have changed over the past decade. So much so, that nearly 50 percent said they wouldn't be bothered if their mates knew they did it and 14 percent saying they would even recommend it to them - a trend backed by popular comedian and presenter Corinne Grant.
The battle of the sexes, according to the research, revolves around which area on the male body to manscape. While trimming the bush is a top priority for men, women love it when hair on the back (26%) and shoulders (23%) is kept to a minimum. But it seems the jury is in, with a massive 75 percent of women claiming they prefer a smooth chest on men, a big shift in traditional perceptions of the rugged hairy chest on males. Despite the increasing prevalence of males who keep it trimmed down there, it seems that there is still work to be done with 26 percent of women saying their own partner is in need of some body grooming - Aussie men take note!
Corinne Grant is not surprised by the results. "Aussie men these days are quite comfortable with the idea of manscaping. I think the days of looking like you've just climbed out of the primordial swamp are over. As much as I loved Magnum P.I. as a child, how much hotter would he have looked without the chest-rug?"
Men do appear to be concerned about what women think and want; 70 percent thought that the fairer sex prefer a groomed look on guys, with going on a date (48%) being the most popular reason for indulging in a spot of manscaping, followed closely by a night on the town (40%).
Corinne added "And it makes guys feel more confident. It's clear from the research that women like a smooth chest although, unless you're an Olympic swimmer, a complete body shave may not be the way to go, no-one wants to date a slip 'n' slide!" This is shown in the results, as 91 percent of women prefer a minimal amount of trimmed body hair on show. Luckily the Braun BodycruZer gives you the option to trim or shave.
It looks like Corrine has been backed up by the nation's women. When presented with a range of topless celebs, women unsurprisingly voted David Beckham (41%) top with his smooth torso. A little less surprising was that super-suave spoof spy Austin Powers came in last for his hairy man-rug scoring less than 1 percent of the vote!
Don't despair if you are more like Austin than Becks, the new Braun BodycruZer is a manscaper's dream as it's the only all-in-one manscaping tool with a Braun power trimmer and Gillette wet shaver. It seems the most popular tools for manscapers are clippers (39%) and razors (51%), making BodycruZer ideal as it incorporates Gillette Fusion technology with a precision electrical trimmer for an incredible level of closeness and comfort. The high performance cutting system has several trimming attachments to help provide maximum precision and flexibility.
The Braun BodycruZer is now available.
