LARA WORTHINGTON JOINED THE BUMBLE HIVE THIS MELBOURNE CUP DAY
BUMBLE BIRDCAGE MARQUEE BROUGHT A BUZZ TO CUP DAY

Bumble, the female-first connection platform that empowers women to make the first move in dating, friendship and professional networking, will be a hive of social and networking activity on Lexus Melbourne Cup Day, with Australian model and entrepreneur, Lara Worthington, attending as special guest in the Bumble Birdcage marquee.

Lara Worthington launched her beauty line The Base, in 2014, and has been featured on the cover of numerous magazines including Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Grazia, Oyster and Cleo. Bumble will be dedicating Lexus Melbourne Cup Day to inspirational Australian female entrepreneurs, with 50 businesswomen on the guest list.

Following a day of fun and festivities in the Bumble Birdcage on AAMI Victoria Derby Day, Bumble Founder and CEO, Whitney Wolfe Herd will also attend Lexus Melbourne Cup Day, alongside Chief Brand Office Alexandra Williamson.
Bumble will take naming rights of Race 1 on Lexus Melbourne Cup Day, the Bumble Stakes, with guests cheering the race on at 10.50am. The Bumble Stakes is a race that's exclusively for two-year-old fillies (female horses), which is appropriate given Bumble's Australian operations launched almost two years ago – meaning the app launched here around the same time the competing horses were born.

The Bumble Birdcage marquee embodies femininity, with a focus on elegance and fun, the perfect backdrop to socialise, network and experience the festivities of Melbourne Cup Carnival. The key photo moment, a golden bee-embellished throne which reminds guests to "Bee the CEO", embodies the inspirational women attending the Bumble Birdcage marquee and represents Bumble's core values of empowering women in dating, business and friendship.

The Melbourne Cup Carnival also provides a great opportunity for Bumble to engage with talented, Australian women to bring the vision to life, and Bumble has recruited a brilliant line up of female talent for the structural design, project management and construction of the Bumble marquee as well as styling, florals, music and photography to create an awesome experience for its guests throughout Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Led by Michelle Battersby of Bumble, the girl powered team includes Courtney McCann of OMG Events, graphic designer Kim Lea, photographer Gabrielle Connole, DJ duo Savannah Ofei and Briony Ofei of Kinder, catering by Peter Rowland, led by CEO Emma Yee, and Judi Hausmann, founder and CEO of brand experience agency Banter and strategic communications agency Hausmann.

Guests in the marquee were served a bespoke menu from Peter Rowland Group, including a decadent cheese and honey tasting station, and cocktails including an espresso martini with honeycomb crumb.

Since its launch, Bumble has amassed over 41 million users globally. As one of the fastest growing social connection apps, this has resulted in over 650 million women-led first moves and over 1 billion messages sent.
Locally Bumble has experienced enormous growth since its official launch in Australia in December 2016, with over 1.7 million Australian downloads generated and over 51 million matches made to date.

Last year Bumble BFF launched in Australia, designed to enable empowered and kind friendship finding, and in March of this year Bumble Bizz launched, which is a fresh take on professional networking and mentoring.
With the big vision of becoming the ultimate social network for people you don't yet know, Bizz is powered by the notion that a connection or simple exchange of information can lead to the opportunity of a lifetime.

Bumble is the first app of its kind to bring dating, friend-finding, and career-building to a single platform via Bumble Date, Bumble BFF and Bumble Bizz. All three Bumble modes are rooted in encouraging empowering connections, respectful conversations and meaningful interactions.

Bumble is available to download for free in either the App Store and Google Play.
