ADDING THAT WINTER TOUCH
Here are some tips to maintain healthy skin this winter season!
** During winter, ensure your moisture levels are up. Heating in homes and schools takes away the moisture in our skins leaving skin rough and tight. Avoid using rinse-off cleansers or soap on your face as water can make dry skin worse. Instead opt to use an oil-based cleanser.
** In winter, our skin is more sensitive due to the change in climate. So if possible, avoid using products that contain fragrance or ingredients such as lanolin, as these products can cause all kinds of irritations in winter.
** Lips especially need extra protection during the cold months as they have less layers of skin than the rest of the body and are likely to become dry and chapped. Try using a non-petroleum based lip balm, which will keep your lips soft and smooth. Alternatively, you can gently exfoliate your lips using a soft toothbrush. This will remove any flaky skin you may have, from your lips.
PERFECT POUT
To create a perfect pout follow these simple steps:
** The first trick is to cover your lips with foundation too. You will find that by doing this, your lipstick will last longer as it has something to hold on to.
** Secondly, line and cover your lips with the matching lipliner shade as your lipstick.
** Finally, apply a coat of gloss and your lipstick with a lip brush all the way to the edges of your mouth. Blot lips with a tissue and reapply your lipstick. Add a finishing touch of gloss. Now the perfect pout has been created!
TIP: To avoid lipstick staining your teeth (not an attractive look at all!), place your index finger in your mouth and pull out. This will ensure any excess lipstick is wiped away!
BLEND AWAY
Blending makeup properly is the key to a natural looking appearance. Whether you use a stick foundation applied directly to your face or a sponge, which makes it easier to control, it's essential not to let the foundation merely remain on the surface of your face. Apply a small amount of product to different areas of the face and use your fingertips to massage it completely into the skin so it's not visible.
Powder blush is often difficult to blend. You may get a blotchy appearance on the skin if all the excess powder is not completely removed.
TIP: For best results, use a brush to disperse it completely so it doesn't deposit on the skin.
HAND CARE
Hands are the first part of our bodies to show signs of ageing therefore, we really need to care for our hands as well. This involves using hand creams that are enriched with anti-ageing retinol and UV protection. Feet are also prone to ageing quickly so need to be moisturised as well.
