Camilla Franks Singapore Weekender Bag
Australian fashion favourite Camilla Franks has created her first ever bag, inspired by her self-confessed "home away from home", Singapore. The stylish travel bag, labelled the 'Singapore Weekender Bag', offers enough room to pack all your essentials for at least a 96 hour break, along with some extra space for your Singapore shopping finds.
The bag was designed by Camilla to encourage Australians to explore Singapore during the Great Singapore Sale - a must-do event on any die-hard shopper's calendar, with prices slashed by up to 70% across all the nation's premium shopping precincts. Complete with leather trimmings, a detachable silk scarf and shoulder strap and a removable envelope pouch for valuables, the 'Singapore Weekender Bag' really is the ultimate travel companion, beautifully representing elements of Singapore through Camilla's artistic and inspired eyes.
Whether it's a dress from Zara, shoes from Prada or the latest Apple iPod Touch, Camilla's bag will fit all your GSS finds and bring them home in style. Key features and inspirations for the bag include:
Unique print combination: an iconic Camilla trait, the striking print combination pays homage to the fusion of cultures in Singapore, including Arab, Chinese, Indian and Malaysian heritage.Blue print: the blue detailed print featured on the lining and strap was inspired by the tiles found in the bustling Arab Quarter, nestled amongst the tea houses, chic boutiques and knick knack stores.
White floral print: this design was inspired by the unique Peranakan culture that exists in Singapore (an ancient fusion of Chinese and Malay heritage) and their intricate painted pottery designs.
Tiger print: no stranger to animal prints, Camilla took inspiration from the many mythical tales that exist around tigers in Singapore. Camilla added - "I also saw these gorgeous tigers on the amazing Singapore Night Safari, you've got to do it!"
Envelope pocket details: the removable envelope style pouch is perfect for travel essentials like passports and mobiles and was inspired by the knick knacks found in the booming boutique scene off the beaten track in Haji Lane and Chinatown.
A detachable silk scarf: perfect for the humidity in the tropics, the scarf is the ultimate accessory to tame fly-away hair.
"I have been to Singapore countless times and I love that the city is always evolving into an even more dynamic and exciting destination. It has so much to offer with its eclectic mix of cultures, vibrant nightlife, mouth-watering cuisine, unexpected gems hidden down the backstreets and not forgetting ... the shopping scene is to die for! This is what really inspired me to create the 'Singapore Weekender Bag' - it is a representation of some of my favourite elements of Singapore and I hope it inspires Australians to stay-over in this fabulous city and scratch more than the surface!" says Camilla.
"My top tip would be, travel over for the Great Singapore Sale and spend at least 96 hours. The sale is the perfect time to access the renowned premium shopping scene at a fraction of the price, and you don't just want to stopover as there are so many fabulous things in this city to explore."
The limited-edition 'Singapore Weekender Bag' will be sold in Camilla stores from early May, 2011. RRP $550. Expressions of interest in the bag are being taken on (02) 9140 1430.
