Following a recent sold-out Australian tour supporting Alec Benjamin, rising star Carla Wehbe has today returned with her heartbreaking new single "knight To e5". Listen HERE. The gifted writer, producer, vocalist, and refreshingly individual creative has also announced that her new EP "Jupiter and Mars" will be released on March 24. Pre-save HERE.
The cinematic track is a tender moment that builds with powerful vocals and emotive strings and synths. Touching on deep regret, she reflects on putting someone else's needs before hers.
"If you're a Harry Potter fan you might get the title reference from the first film. In the same way Ron sacrifices his knight so Harry could win the game of wizards chess, the concept of "Knight To E5" is about sacrificing your happiness or self for the happiness of someone you care about, essentially putting them before you. It's one of the more heartbreaking songs I've written, which touches on deep regret and the fear of not living your life for yourself because you're trying to protect someone else's happiness" says Carla of the new track.
The forthcoming body-of-work is Carla's highly anticipated follow-up to her debut EP "Half Past Nine", which was released in 2020. Featuring recent singles "introvert (with extroverted expectations)" and "is forever off the table?", new single "knight to E5", and two brand new tracks, she shines bright with a sincere vulnerability and strong melodies that cement her as one to watch.
"This EP has been a long time coming for me. it's cinematic, emotionally dramatic and expresses this extensional sense of longing for something, which I really wanted to express in all the songs." Carla teases of the new EP.
2022 was a big year for Carla Wehbe which saw her opening for international superstars Benson Boone and Alec Benjamin, receiving full additions at triple j for "is forever off the table?" and "introvert (with extroverted expectations)", and even throwing her own Holiday Hoedown show in Sydney with Charlie Collins and special guests Peach PRC, Gretta Ray, EGOISM, Charley, Cody Jon and more. With the forthcoming release of "Jupiter and Mars", 2023 is shaping up to be an even bigger year for the singer-songwriter.
