DISNEY-PIXAR'S CARS tells the story of self-assured 'Lightning McQueen', a bright red race car. McQueen, who is relatively new on the racing scene, embarks on a memorable adventure where he discovers that life is about the journey not the destination.

As a hotshot rookie, McQueen oozes confidence and believes that he can become number one and make it to the top of the racing circuit. However, after disappointingly finishing a preliminary event in a three-way dead heat with archrivals 'Chick Hicks' and 'The King Strip Weathers', McQueen has to travel to Los Angeles for the deciding race in the Piston Cup.

Along the way, McQueen gets lost when he falls off the back of 'Mack' his transporter truck. He then takes the wrong detour and ends up in the quaint and forgotten town of Radiator Springs. Forced to spend time in the small and redundant community on Route 66, McQueen gradually gets to know the town's quirky characters. McQueen goes on to form lifelong friendships with the eclectic bunch and they later become his team who helps him get back on the race track.

DISNEY-PIXAR'S CARS features a hilarious ensemble cast of offbeat characters, especially those from Radiator Springs including 'Mater' the rusty, slow-witted, loyal tow truck. McQueen and Mater develop a strong friendship and over time Mater teaches McQueen that there are more important things than sponsorships, winning and fame.

Then there is 'Fillmore' the peace-loving, tie-dyed hippy, VW bus; 'Luigi' the Fiat 500 who runs the local tyre shop; 'Guido' the Italian forklift who is also Luigi's assistant and best friend; 'Sarge' the World War Two Army Jeep who begins each day with a rousing rendition of Reveille; 'Flo' the sassy no-nonsense show car; and 'Ramone' the Impala Low-Rider who owns and operates Ramone's House of Body Art.

To be honoured is 'Doc Hudson', the mysterious and modest 1951 Hudson Hornet, who runs the local mechanic workshop and has a very impressive history in the racing world. Doc, at first glance, appears to be grumpy and disinterested at the new brash race car. However, he soon lets down his guard and ends up sharing words of wisdom with McQueen, teaching him some valuable life lessons.

During his time in Radiator Springs, McQueen befriends Sally, the sultry, yet intelligent Porsche 911. The one time hot-shot lawyer ends up proving to McQueen that being number one is not always the most important thing. After swallowing his pride, McQueen goes on to apply these learnings to his life and makes it to the starting line of the highly anticipated Piston Cup.
