Now in its 5th year, the Chalk Urban Art Festival is the largest of its type in the Southern Hemisphere, attracting more than 40 artists and 120,000 spectators.

This year's headline artist, Simon Thomas from Wollongong, who specialises in murals and chalkboards, has been a competing artist since the festival began in 2005. Last year he won the title of Champion Pavement Artist and took home $5,000.

The call for artists to compete in the pavement art & body art competitions is now open. Artists are encouraged to apply online at Chalkurbanart.com Entries close September 18.
