Dance yourself to life with the release of the first ever Chakradance CD!
After seven years of development, of the world's first Chakradance CD, on the new independent Australian label Daily Tonic.
Created by Sydney-born Natalie Southgate, 36, Chakradance has been hailed as "the next Pilates". It is a complete workout for body, mind and spirit in which freeform dance is stimulated by music structured to resonate with each in turn of the seven major chakras, or energy centres, that regulate the various layers of the human aura. "The aim", says Southgate, "is to tune and balance the whole self, producing that wonderful state of calm vitality known as well being".
The Charkradance holistic exercise program is a journey into Self using creative visualisation, music and dance where the focus is on personal experience rather than performance. Drawing on a fusion of philosophies and musical styles, spontaneous dance is used to balance the chakras. Our chakras are energy centres. Every human has 7 major chakras and many hundreds of minor ones, all spinning like invisible wheels and vibrating to specific frequencies. Guided by music resonating to each of the 7 major chakras in turn, participants are taken on a dynamic dance journey through their own energy centres. No dance experience, or prior knowledge of chakras is necessary.
An immediate hit in London when Natalie first launched it in 1998, Chakradance has been taking Australia by storm since she brought it back home in 2001. There are now over a dozen fully trained and accredited Chakradance teachers leading classes in all major cities in Australia, as well as in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Amsterdam.
In Chakradance, matching the music to the chakras is absolutely essential, and it has been a seven-year labour of love for Natalie to track down the right music. This year she teamed up with Leigh Wood, the DJ and founder-producer of One World Music, who was in the process of setting up his new Daily Tonic label.
"Chakradance is an original idea, useful for anyone looking to improve their well-being, says Wood, "and I was really excited by the challenge of helping Natalie to source the perfect tracks for the first ever Chakradance album".
RRP $29.95 The Chakradance CD is available from all good record stores or online at
