Coco Body

Melbourne skincare brand Coco Body have captured the essence of the Australian beach lifestyle and bottled it into a range of body and hair products enriched with all natural oils and vitamins.

Inspired by Cofounder Leah Dowell's relaxed beachside lifestyle on the Mornington Peninsula, Coco Body's products are made in Australia.

In May 2015, Leah found that frequent exposure to the elements left her skin feeling dry and dull. Inundated with options containing harsh chemicals, Leah, 31, a mother, knew she wanted something natural. Always an innovator, she began testing natural oils on her own skin.

'I kept trying different combinations that would moisturize and hydrate my skin naturally without leaving a residue or making my skin break out. Through trial and error I came up with what is now the Coco Body Nourish Me formula," says Leah, an entrepreneur whose businesses are growing exponentially.

Coco Body uses only the highest quality natural oils, with no hidden nasties that can irritate the skin.

The Coco Body range is completely natural, paraben free and vegan friendly with a policy against animal testing of any kind.

Coconut oil is the hero ingredient used across the range and is praised for its moisturising, nourishing and tan enhancing properties.

'I love that it's just a mixture of my favourite oils, nothing added, all natural and chemical free. It's vegan and smells and feels so nourishing on my skin," says Ashy Bines, Fitness guru and Coco Body Ambassador.

The combinations of oils are non-allergenic and have been found to assist in the reduction of cellulite, eczema, psoriasis and dry skin.

'After years of trying everything from prescription creams to other medication Coco Body cleared up my dad's deep scars (red raw and flaking) and starting working after one day! He can finally wear shorts after 20 years," says Coco Body customer Shahn Lea Evans-Dwyer.

The cult favourite Nourish Me combines coconut oil with sweet almond oil for improved complexion, grapeseed oil for its anti-ageing properties and avocado oil containing vitamins A, B1, B2, D, and E to boost collagen and aid with the treatment of skin conditions.

Nourish Me also comes in a variety of scents: Watermelon, Vanilla, Strawberry and Coconut & Lime. There is even a Nourish Me for Him to keep the men soft and supple.

Nourish Me has women using the oil during pregnancy and early motherhood to improve skin elasticity and prevent and reduce the signs of stretch marks.

Repair Me is a uniquely blended hair treatment mask made to repair, hydrate and strengthen dry and damaged hair.  This product uses certified organic coconut oil to encourage hair growth, Moroccan Argan Oil for silky soft tresses, Macadamia oil to improve hair strength and elasticity and Jojoba oil to reduce damage to split ends and prevent breakage.

The 2-hour organic tanning mousse Bronze Me is eco certified DHA with coconut and avocado oils rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, D and E to nourish the skin whilst achieving natural bronze glow.

Coco Body is available for purchase online via www.cocodyco.com.au, with free shipping on all Australian orders of Nourish Me.

Leah Dowell – Cofounder of Coco Body

Coco Body was a natural evolution for Cofounder Leah Dowell, 31.  With Leah's background in childcare and since having two children of her own, pure and natural products have always been a priority.

'I've always been into skincare and beauty. We started out selling candles and hand made soaps at the Mornington markets after we had our first child," says Leah.

Being blessed with an entrepreneurial spirit, Leah says she has always been passionate about running her own businesses, of which she now has three.

In 2012 Leah began hand pouring soy candles from home. The self-confessed sweet tooth used desserts and fruits as inspiration for her scents, hoping to cure her sugar cravings through the sense of smell.

Leah opted for natural, non-toxic and biodegradable soy wax to make her long-lasting Indigo Flame candles - the safest option for use around the home.

Indigo Flame has since evolved into hand poured triple scented candles, melts and diffusers.

In November 2015, Leah launched her latest venture Blaque Noir, a range of body scrubs using raw ingredients including activated charcoal. Inspired by her kids getting clean in the bath after playing in the mud, Leah aims to bring that element of fun into adult life – 'the dirtier the water, the more fun they have had."

Activated charcoal is the key ingredient, which absorbs moisture particularly for those with oily skin. Blaque Noir scrubs are available in three invigorating blends and will soon launch hair products and hand wash.

Both the Blaque Noir scrubs and Indigo Flame soy candles are made with love by Leah Dowell at her home on the Mornington Peninsula.
