Codie Klein Announced as New Piping Hot Team Rider

Iconic Australian surf brand Piping Hot is stoked to announce that the new addition to their Team Rider program is Kingscliffe NSW local, Codie Klein.

With an impressive list of accolades already to her name including coming 4^th at the ISA World Juniors and 2^nd at the recent 2013 ISA World Surfing Games in Panama, it's no surprise that the tenacious 19-year old has been tipped as the next big thing on the Australian surfing scene.

Nicknamed Chodie by her surfing buddies, Codie caught the surfing bug aged 5 and hasn't put her stick down since. Her passion started with a simple love of the beach but her competitive nature soon took her to new levels. She sites Steph Gilmore, another Kingscliffe resident, and Matt Wilkinson as her major inspirations.

'It all began with a love for the ocean but at the same time I've always had a competitive drive to succeed in whatever I do. It's hard work but the sensation of winning is beyond describable and that's what keeps me going" says Codie

As a recipient of the renowned Surfing Australia High Performance Scholarship, Codie undergoes a tough daily training program which includes traditional strength and balance work but also gymnastics and plenty of technical analysis sessions.

As if this wasn't hard enough, she also studies Commerce and Finance at Bond University - a tough gig for most 19-year olds - but you won't hear this determined girl complain.

'Success comes from hard work. Anything is yours if you want it bad enough" she says.

When she's not surfing, training or doing university work Codie loves hanging out with friends and drinking coffee. She's an advocate of clean eating and stays away from processed foods as much as possible, but she's not shy of the odd indulgence.

'I like to eat healthily wherever I can, I love sushi and blueberries, but I'm not a robot"

Codie's sights are well and truly set on the future and with the World Qualifiers on the horizon, Piping Hot is looking forward to accompanying this extraordinary competitor on her surfing journey which is sure to include many more successes over the coming years.
