Hold on to your hats, and enjoy some old school charm as Sam Rockwell (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Matchstick Men, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) and Frances O'Connor (Mansfield Park and A.I.), lead an all star cast in Piccadilly Jim. This quirky romantic comedy is available on DVD May 2nd 2007, from Universal Pictures.
It is 1930's London and James Crocker (Sam Rockwell) is a dashing, sweet talking young American who is creating a whirlwind through London society. He becomes known for starting pub brawls, partying with promiscuous young ladies and in general behaving like a larrikin.
When James dons the tabloid tag of 'Piccadilly Jim', his fearsome Aunt Nesta (Brenda Blethyn) insists on Jim returning to New York to be under her watchful eye. Jim detests the idea, and refuses to go. That is, until he lays eyes on his Aunt's step-niece, Anne (Frances O'Connor). He is then on the way back to New York quicker than you can say "double martini please barman"!
Anne, although never having met (or seen) Jim, is aware of his rowdy reputation. Therefore in order for him to win her heart he changes his name, and pretends to be a teetotalling, upright member of society, a lie that that will be Piccadilly Jim's finest hour or final undoing.
Based on the classic novel by P.G. Woodehouse, Piccadilly Jim, is a light hearted romantic comedy which shows what the power of love can create!
