Melbournians are about to be treated to Australia's ultimate fashion and arts exhibition this November (24 – 27th 2016) at The Melbourne Fair which is set to showcase a wide range of vintage clothing and accessorises including for the first time, a special couture Exhibition entitled -The Little Black Dress' at Caulfield Racecourse. The exhibition will showcase a variety of styles of black dresses that have been influential through the different decades in time. From the moment it was made fashionable by Chanel, to its immortalisation in Audrey Hepburn's iconic film, Breakfast at Tiffany's the little black dress has become a wardrobe essential for women around the world.
The exhibition will include classic silhouettes dating from the 1920s where collectors will get the chance to not only touch but purchase these pieces of history. Fair goers can also expect a look into one of Marilyn Monroe's favourite designers, Ceil Chapman, who was known for designing glamourous cocktail and party dresses often embellished with beads, lace and sequins.
The fair will also include a string of global luxury fashion labels from Chanel, Balenciaga, Dior and Gaultier. The Melbourne Fair will bring together over 30 dealers exhibiting their collections, where exhibitors can expect to find rare and collectable items ranging from a Vintage Chanel purse to a dining suit or a unique piece of wall art which can't be found anywhere else.
Experts on hand at The Melbourne Fair to speak with and answer all your fashion and designer queries as well as receiving exclusive access to rare books, sculptures and ceramics for those interested in the fine arts.
