Creating the Hair Look for Haider Ackermann

Backstage at Paris Fashion Week with Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Wella Professionals: Creating the Hair Look for Haider Ackermann S/S '11

The Look: Abstract Futurism
At Haider Ackermann, the hair look, or should we say looks, as there were three different styles going on, was an exercise in expressionism and was entirely different depending on the viewing angle. Three contradictory hair styles; a severe side parting, a slicked back pony tail and a French twist were arranged on the models head in a surreal display of hair perfection.

"I wanted to create something that was feminine but at the same time masculine and sporty. This multi dimensional hair look needed to look ultra perfect and very precise, which is why we focussed on the finish which was super smooth and sleek" said Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Wella Professionals Care and Styling.

Get the Look:
Start with freshly washed and conditioned hair, and apply Style Foundation from Wella Professionals High Hair range before blow drying hair straight but without creating volume. Create a deep diagonal side parting, and scrape back the hair on the lower side of the parting towards the back of the head. Apply Wella Professionals High Hair Sleek Wonder mixed with High Hair Brilliant Affair to the scraped back section with a tinting brush to help keep the look clean and comb through.

Pull the hair into a mid height pony tail and secure by winding with elastic in a broad band to take the pony tail away from the head. Take the remaining hair section and apply High Hair Sleek Wonder mixed with High Hair Brilliant Affair along the top crown portion, then gently back comb the remaining hair length to create volume. Brush the back combed section through with a soft brush and spray with Wella Professionals High Hair Finishing Spray, keeping the spray very close to the hair to create a 'wet' finish, and twist gently into a French pleat. Secure the pleat with hair pins and apply extra hair spray to ensure a perfectly smooth finish to the pleat. Finally, take a handful of the High Hair Brilliant Affair and completely coat the pony tail to create a much smaller and static silhouette.
