Cancer Council NSW's flagship fundraiser, Daffodil Day, takes place on Friday, August 25. The day represents hope for a cancer-free future, with people getting involved by volunteering, buying a daffodil or making a donation.
In the lead up to Daffodil Day and on the official day Sydneysiders can get involved at the following public events:
Daffodil Day Field of Hope
When: Sunday 20 August
Time: 11am-3pm
Where: Museum of Contemporary Art lawns, Circular Quay
What: The Field of Hope is comprised of heartfelt daffodil tributes created by people affected by cancer and planted on the Museum of Contemporary Art lawns. Tributes can be submitted online at www.cancercouncil.com.au/field-of-hope/
Sydney Opera House goes Yellow for Daffodil Day
When: Thursday 24 August
Time: 5:30pm-2am
Where: Sydney Opera House
What: The Sydney Opera House sails will be lit up in the colour yellow on the eve of Daffodil Day. Daffodil Day ambassador and musician Timothy Bowen will also be present.
Daffodil Day at Martin Place
When: Friday 25 August
Time: All day
Where: Martin Place Sydney
What: Daffodil Day volunteers will be selling fresh daffodils and merchandise to raise funds, while Cancer Council NSW supporters and those affected by cancer will be sharing their personal stories. Daffodil Day ambassadors Elle Halliwell and Timothy Bowen will also be there for parts of the day, with Timothy to perform some songs for crowds around lunchtime.
The stall at Martin Place is just one of over 650 Daffodil Day stalls across NSW. The stalls will be run by over 4,500 volunteers and will sell fresh daffodils and other merchandise to raise funds on 25 August.
