The Dangers of Smoking
You ask yourself, as I do, why people continue to smoke, when it causes so much damage? Addiction is the answer. Today in Australia there are so many avenues available for smokers to go down who generally wish to stop smoking, but few choose to do so.

In this article, we discuss the effects smoking has on your lungs.

The Lungs and Smoking

What damage does smoking do to my lungs?

It paralyses and can completely destroy cilia - Cilia line your upper airways and protect from infection.

It forces Carbon Monoxide into your blood - a deadly substance.

It destroys Lung Tissue - Making the lungs function below normal.

It creates Phlegm - narrowing your airwaves, making it harder to breathe.

It destroys Aveoli, Aveoli give you the ability to absorb Oxygen and remove Carbon Dioxide.

What are the effects of smoking over a short or long period of time?

Smoking over a period of years makes breathing difficult.

It makes you cough more.

It allows for lung infections to take place easier than they would if you weren't smoking.

It can cause asthmatics to have Bad Asthma attacks.

You are at great risk of Lung Cancer.

It also effects people around you, passive smoking has proven to cause lung cancer.

What about if I smoke occasionaly?

It doesn't matter, each smoke causes damage. The risk of problems related to smoking increases with every smoke.

So If I give up, will my lungs improve?

Yes, they will improve, over time. Cilia that are paralysed but not destroyed can recover. You will have less chest infections.

The quicker you quit, the better your chances of improving your health!
