Step into the alpine region of Australia's Snowy Mountains and look for one of our most iconic creatures the duck-billed platypus. The platypus keeps warm via his two layers of fur - a dense waterproof outer-coat and a grey woolly underfur to provide insulation. This dense coat protects the animal from extreme cold, by trapping insulated air.
