Once merely a humble breakfast dish, eggs are now the star of the show across all meal times!
Just in time for Easter, OpenTable has done the hard yards and researched the best egg dishes around town – meaning you'll never have to have egg-envy again.
Egg-cellent dishes:
Quay Restaurant (Sydney): Quay's purpose and passion is to deliver a truly unique experience – which is completely removed from the everyday! Their menu is an evolving repertoire; some classics, some reworked old favourites and new seasonal dishes. Quay is home of the renowned White Nectarine Snow Egg, which can only be described as a true work of art. This dish is perhaps the most famous of all egg dishes – having appeared on Master Chef – and is applauded for its technical construction. -The Egg' sits on a bed of white nectarine granita with white nectarine puree and custard. It has a yolk of white nectarine ice cream encased inside soft white meringue, all enclosed in a shell made from maltose tuile dusted in icing sugar.
Salaryman (Sydney): A new hip and trendy modern-day noodle-bar that is nestled into the heart of Surry Hills. The Salaryman hit the hospitality scene running, dishing up impressive and authentic dishes that have won the hearts of many. Salaryman has a fine-dining flair that cannot be overlooked, with a daily-changing menu that highlights a clear focus on using quality ingredients, seasonal broths often dictated by the weather, misos fermented in-house and ingredients such as Crustacea and rare-breed pork butchered on site. The Roasted Potato & Miso Ramen is an impressive dish leaving its mark on many. The ramen incorporates organic vegetables, salt and pepper tofu, black garlic, salt-cured egg, baby spinach and mustard. You won't look back.
Longrain (Sydney and Melbourne): Longrain is a dining experience not to be missed, offering diners an experience that is inspired by the communal eating philosophy of the Asian table. Longrain takes pride in delivering the soul of South East Asian cuisine to Sydneysiders and Melbournites by perfectly harmonising four essential elements; hot, sour, salty and sweet. The menu is designed to share and incorporates South East Asian influences and carefully sourced ingredients with fresh, zingy flavours. Promising to change the way you look at eggs – their signature dish – The Filled Eggnet brings pork, prawns and peanuts together in a tantalising way that is finished off with a refreshing cucumber relish.
Eau De Vie (Sydney and Melbourne): One of the world's most acclaimed cocktail bars - voted Australia's Best Cocktail bar on numerous occasions and continuously ranked amongst the top 50 bars in the world! Offering a different take on eggs is The Pop Corn Flip, which is a detectible concoction, made up from salted popcorn infused cognac that has been paired with curacao and white chocolate. The cocktail has notes of chocolate and just for fun – contains a whole egg!
Common Man (Melbourne): Designed to make you feel at home Common Man won't disappoint. Whether you're sipping a latte or splurging on a large lunch with friends – the Common Man prides itself on their friendly service, quality food and affordable menu. The menu is unpretentious and hearty, just like mum used to make (except you don't have to do the dishes)! Those who've had a large night on the town will appreciate the Eggs Benedict which involves a English muffin, poached eggs, gypsy ham and of course – the tastebud tantalising hollandaise sauce.
