The Melbourne Story reveals key moments and major changes in Melbourne's history, as well as exploring what is unique about the city. The exhibition looks at Melbourne through key times, from the early 1800s right through to the present day, enabling visitors to explore the changing social, cultural and physical character of Melbourne over time.

The Melbourne Story features more than 1200 objects, including iconic objects from Melbourne's history such as a historic bark canoe from the Yarra River, a restored Cobb & Co coach, a carriage from the Luna Park Big Dipper and the much-loved 'Little Men' from Coles' Book Arcade.
