A pair of colossal prehistoric winged animals were seen making their way across the city to find a new home at Scienceworks, where they will go on display as part of the exhibition Explore-a-saurus, opening in June.

The two life size model pteranodons were transported from Museum Victoria's Collection Store in Moreland to the popular interactive science museum in Spotswood with the help of two open tray trucks, providing Melbourne motorists with a unique sight on the freeway.

The creatures, with wingspans more than six metres in length, will hang from the ceiling of Scienceworks' special exhibition gallery, currently being transformed for the interactive exhibition Explore-a-saurus.
