Food Network February Line-Up

Some of the most respected names in the global restaurant scene join Food Network next month as part of the first ever Plate-able Documentary series airing at 7.30pm on Sunday nights throughout February.

The series begins with a creative journey into the mind of four-time World's Best Restaurant Head Chef, René Redzepi in the Australian television premiere of Noma, My Perfect Storm. Well-known as an extraordinary man of action, passion and determination, the film follows Redzepi as he faces possibly the worst year of his career in 2013. It sees him search inside himself for the answers to his potentially career-crushing creative and commercial dilemmas and derive inspiration from the food that surrounds him, interpreting a forgotten edible world into a language we can all understand.

Noma is also the setting for the Australian television premiere of Ants on a Shrimp: Noma in Tokyo on Sunday 18 February. Ants on a Shrimp was filmed as René lead the second of Noma's now famous inter-country residencies. The acclaimed documentary also features a poignant symphonic score by renowned experimental American-Chilean composer, Nicolas Jaar.

In search of fresh inspiration and a new challenge, in 2015 Redzepi took his entire team, from kitchen staff to front-of-house, to the Japanese capital for a few months in an attempt to flex their imaginative muscles using the Noma philosophy of foraging local and indigenous fares to create unique, high-end dishes with native Japanese ingredients. Noma has also resided in London, Sydney and Tulum. It is about to re-open back home in Copenhagen.

Also featuring in the Plate-able Documentary series on Food Network are acclaimed features Jiro Dreams of Sushi and El Bulli: Cooking in Progress which showcase legendary Tokyo and Barcelona eateries respectively.
