Well the Olympics are over and what a fantastic two weeks of action, drama, speed, skill and strength! No doubt everybody will be inspired to join gyms, start exercising and set new goals to achieve.
But where do we start?
Follow these five easy steps to fitness and you too can be a winner!
GET YOUR HEART GOING
This means cardiovascular or aerobic training or activities such as walking, running, cycling, swimming etc. This will tone your muscles and help control your weight.
EAT TO LIVE
Learn to eat to live and not live to eat! Eat a balanced, healthy diet with lots of fruit and vegetables. Everybody is different but the golden rule to remember is to exercise more and eat less.
BUILD MUSCLE
Increased % of lean muscle mass will considerably increase your metabolism and give you shape - eg. gym work, push-up's, dips, situps, chinups etc.
GET YOUR REST
You actually gain improvements during the rest phase and not the workout phase, so it is a good idea to slot in a few rest days per week to ensure maximum results.
KEEP AT IT AND REWARD YOURSELF
In order to keep a level of persistance, you need to reward yourself periodically. Maybe it's chocolate, new clothes or a holiday, but it is your choice - but don't forget it!
