In a unique presentation, Japanese anti-whaling activist Toru Suzuki will provide an insight into the forces behind Japan's whaling industry.
Why does the Japanese Government continue to defy international condemnation and kill hundreds of whales in Antarctic waters each summer? Who profits from Japanese 'scientific' whaling when stockpiles of whale meat remain frozen in storage and no credible science is produced after killing 12,000 whales?
Most importantly, after 22 years of Japanese 'scientific' whaling, how can it finally be brought to an end?
These are just some of the questions Toru will discuss.
One-half of the so-called Tokyo Two, Toru and fellow activist Junichi Sato of Greenpeace Japan made headlines in Japan last year when they exposed a whale meat scandal revealing widespread corruption throughout the country's whaling industry.
They are currently awaiting trial and face up to 10 years in prison for their efforts to bring down whaling in Japan.
