Poppy (Sally Hawkins) is an unmarried primary school teacher who lives in London, cannot drive and is constantly questioned about her unrelenting optimism. Her outlook on life baffles her more cynical friends: even when her beloved bicycle is stolen, Poppy remains positive, only regretting that she wasn't given an opportunity to say goodbye. Adamant about learning to drive, Poppy finds herself paired with the sour-faced driving instructor Scott, who is as pessimistic as she is sunny. Through her weekly driving lessons, flamenco classes and encounters with members of the local community, Poppy attempts to convince people to see the world through her eyes.

Directed by Mike Leigh (SECRETS AND LIES, VERA DRAKE), HAPPY-GO-LUCKY is a sweet-natured and uplifting film about making the most of life.
