Head to Rose Seidler House on Sydney s north shore to celebrate the life and work of architect Harry Seidler on Saturday 7 & Sunday 8 March when the Historic Houses Trust hosts a weekend of activities including lunchtime architecture talks, a book sale, food and the chance to explore this 1950s iconic house for free.

Built between 1948 and 1950, Rose Seidler House was the first Australian commission for Harry Seidler; it is one of the finest examples of mid-century modern domestic architecture and is managed by the Historic Houses Trust.

Throughout the weekend there is the chance to view rarely seen film footage of the Seidler family and the construction of some of Seidler s earliest works including Blues Point Tower and Marcus Seidler House in Turramurra.

At Saturday s 1pm lunchtime talk, architect Jyoti Somerville will share her experiences of living in and adapting an iconic Seidler house and on Sunday, Harry Seidler s cousin Brian Seidler will be in conversation with architect Greg Holman discussing how he approached the alterations to his 1951 Seidler house.

There will be lamingtons, tea, coffee and other goodies available from the local North Turramurra Scout Group stall over the weekend as well as a lunchtime sausage sizzle and the chance to pick up a bargain at the architecture and design book sale.
