Pets of the Homeless and 4Legs Christmas Lunch

Feeding it Forward

Local Charity, Pets of the Homeless, has partnered with Melbourne-based pet food company, 4Legs to host a special Christmas lunch at Transit Soup Kitchen in Narre Warren on Wednesday 20 December.

The event will provide attendees and their pets with a meal, free vet checks, worming, vaccinations and grooming, as well as pet food, toys and other pet supplies.

Each week Transit Soup Kitchen and Food Support feeds between 180-200 people and helps an estimated 500 people with grocery hampers. Organisers and clients say that without it, people would go hungry.

Founded in 2015 in Melbourne by Yvonne Hong, Pets of the Homeless provides support to people experiencing or facing homelessness, helping to keep pets and people together in difficult times.

'Keeping homeless people united with their pet provides company, protection and unconditional love. Anyone with an animal understands that the human-animal bond is a vital part of our lives and this is no different for people who are homeless," says Yvonne.

Olivia Ratten, 4Legs Sales and Marketing Manger says, 'Pets of the Homeless is doing some incredible work around Melbourne and as pet food producers we're naturally committed to animal welfare and protecting the smallest members of our community – our pets, through our Feed It Forward campaign.

'#FeeditForward is all about getting into the Christmas spirit and helping others," said Olivia Ratten.

'We'll be donating 25 cents from the sale of each packet of our special Christmas food, Jingle Balls, to Pets of the Homeless providing much needed food, veterinary care and accommodation to those in need."

4Legs Jingle Balls with turkey and a festive coating is a special recipe that includes coconut, apple, pumpkin and rosemary. It is available exclusively at Woolworths nationwide throughout December.
