Eight out of 10 Aussie blokes say they want an International Men's Day, according to a study to be published next week by the Australian Men's Health Forum.
The majority of participants say International Men's Day – on Tuesday 19 November 2019 – is needed to put a focus on the issues that impact men and boys.
A key issue of concern is the state of men's health, with nine out of 10 men saying they want to see increased government funding to help men stay healthy.
The majority of men surveyed say more time, money and resources should be invested to help men lose weight, eat healthy, drink less alcohol and stop smoking.
Men are even more concerned about their mental health than their physical health, with around four in five saying they want to see more funding directed to preventing male suicide.
International Men's Day is celebrated on 19 November every year and is marked in around 80 countries worldwide.
In Australia, the day is marked in workplaces, schools and community settings and focuses on issues like men's mental and physical health and the importance of male role models in the lives of men and boys.
