Jai Waetford is set to release his brand new single -Get To Know You' from his upcoming EP on March 28th through Sony Music Entertainment Australia. Jai announced to his fans via twitter that a new single would be released on March 28th along with three other brand new tracks and within an hour was trending at #1 in Australia!

Interview with Jai Waetford

Question: What can you tell us about the upcoming EP?

Jai Waetford: I am about to release a new EP which is out on the 28th of March. It's been awesome spending time writing and recording in the studio. It's been great to chill out and have fun especially because it isn't a serious EP; it's all fun songs although they have meaning to them.

Question: What are you loving about Get To Know You?

Jai Waetford: Get To Know You is the main song on the EP, it's the feature song. I am looking forward to releasing that and can't wait to see the reaction I get from the EP.

Question: What do you enjoy most about using social media to announce your music news to your fans?

Jai Waetford: The fans! I love it because of the fans; it is so easy to connect with the fans through social media and share all my upcoming music news with them.

Question: What has changed for your since X-Factor?

Jai Waetford: My style of music along with me, as a person, has changed a lot mostly because of things that are happening and what's going on. I have been inspired to write different and better music. When I am writing I am inspired by anything that is going on around me, whatever is happening in my life or those around me. I have to write a song that has a meaning.

Question: What are you looking forward to most about the upcoming tour with Justice Crew?

Jai Waetford: The fun of the tour! It's going to be great to share our fan bases. I love the boys and they're mad people to be on the road with. It's going to be fun to hang out and I hope they'll share some of their moves with me.

Question: Is there a particular place you are most looking forward to performing?

Jai Waetford: I always enjoy performing at the quieter towns as they are the crowds which go off as there aren't many artists that perform out there and I love that they go ridiculous. I had a performance in Cessnock, the other week, which is out in the middle of the NSW country (4 hours from Sydney); we were very naïve going into the performance thinking that no one was going to turn up and we had 2,500 people rock up to the Bunnings. It was so cool, a very awesome turnout especially because usually 1,000 people is good for a gig, like that.

Question: What should audiences expect from your performance?

Jai Waetford: A few songs from the Get To Know You EP will be featured. I have some dance routines for some of the shows along with acoustic performances – it's going to be an awesome show.

Question: How long do you practice, daily?

Jai Waetford: I am rehearsing songs two or three times a day which isn't long but I make sure I am keeping on top of it. When times are busy, like now, it's crazy as I am shooting my video clip on Friday, I have rehearsals today for a gig that is in Bathurst, I have a hair-cut – it's all pretty crazy right now. When it's quiet, I am pretty chilled out.

Question: Do you have any pre-show rituals?

Jai Waetford: Not really, I ensure I'm in the right mindset and go out there and have fun. I like to relax because the aim is to go out, have fun and do a good job.

Question: What are your favourite songs at the moment (one of yours and another artists)?

Jai Waetford: One of my favourite songs that I'm about to release is Get To Know You and I really like Chris Brown's Main Chick.

Question: Do you have a favourite colour?

Jai Waetford: Oh wow! I don't know, I don't have a favourite colour as such, I like bright colours so maybe blue or purple.

Question: Do you play any sport?

Jai Waetford: I do, I play footy and I played that all through last year. I also race motorbikes and surf.
