Jake Ellis Interview
Whoever said that "nice guys finish last" has clearly never met Jake Ellis!
Star of -The Bachelorette' Jake, has been on a whirlwind ride since the show aired in 2016. Potential dates follow his every move but he has no interest in a playboy lifestyle. 'Tinder has pretty much killed dating … trust me I've had some pretty crazy experiences. I just wanna take a real girl out on a date. Face-tuned photos, Insta models and fake profiles has got things all messed up"!
Still on the hunt for real love he's looking for Mrs Right and he doesn't care if that makes him Mr Nice Guy! Owning the classic "boy next door" title, he's the family guy who's best mates are his brothers and he'll own it.
Sharing his families struggle with Cancer during his time on The Bachelorette, Jake is putting his profile to good use. As an ambassador for National Breast Cancer Foundation, Jake hopes to raise funds to help those affected by the disease 'how can you ever do enough to help a charity you're passionate about".
Interview with Jake Ellis
Question: Can you talk about your role with the National Breast Cancer Foundation?
Jake Ellis: My mother has been battling forms of breast cancer for the last 24 years, since I was only 6 years old. I was approached by one of the lead organizer's of the NBCF Pink Ribbon Race day which is one of Australia's largest community fundraisers, to be the male ambassador for the day to represent the sons, fathers, brothers etc. of loved ones facing battles with the disease. Throughout the Bachelorette I shared to the Australian public my family's journey/battle, in turn giving me a profile to do some good for such a worthy cause. I'm honoured to have been asked to be a part of not only the event but to help share my mother's powerful story and hopefully raise awareness and ways to help.
Question: Why is the National Breast Cancer Foundation close to your heart?
Jake Ellis: The NBCF is close to my heart because of Mum's and my family's journey/battle with breast cancer. Family is the most important thing to me and I am fortunate to have formed a bit of a profile from The Bachelorette that I want to put to good use. I'm not saying that my family's battle is different to the millions of other people and family members throughout Australia but want to share our story and show just how much of a difference that love, compassion, determination, family and friends can truly make.
Question: How can Australians support the National Breast Cancer Foundation?
Jake Ellis: There are so many way that Australians can support the NBCF, whether it he directly by showing support through their website or attending and donating to their events. But even by sharing information, stories that affect them to raise awareness or even by just being there for someone in their lives that this dreadful disease has touched. The scariest part about this disease is that it affects every single Australian in some way or another.
Question: What did you learn about yourself whilst on The Bachelorette?
Jake Ellis: The biggest thing that I learnt about myself whilst on The Bachelorette is learning to be in touch with what I really want in a relationship or that special someone. I was lucky enough to be a part of the whole experience which was around three months of filming and having to talk about 'what you're feeling' every day for that period of time definitely opened my eyes to myself. I don't think I have ever spent that amount of time really thinking about what I want and what I was feeling. Also, I was lucky to meet not only the amazing Georgia Love and form such a strong connection but so to the other boys in the show. Not having a phone and being shut off from the world for three months helped me to learn a lot from them also.
Question: What have you been up to since The Bachelorette?
Jake Ellis: Since The Bachelorette I have been lucky to be a part of some exciting things and even more so met some amazing people. Being a part of the show and I guess doing quite well on it has definitely opened up some doors to avenues that I guess would never have been possible otherwise. It's been amazing to be a part of some great charity events/campaigns, MC'ing big events and also have a few big exciting projects in the works at the moment.
Question: How has life changed since The Bachelorette?
Jake Ellis: Life since The Bachelorette has been an absolute whirlwind. One of the biggest changes was people recognising me and knowing my name before I even meet them. Still blows me away people coming up to me to have a chat and get a photo, but it's been great as everyone has always been so friendly. Also as I said being able to be a part of some exciting things that never would have happened otherwise. I guess the most exciting part for me is that I was lucky enough to be given i guess a profile from the show and being able to use that for some worthy causes is great.
Question: What are you looking for in a partner?
Jake Ellis: I feel like I'm pretty picky in looking for a partner, I guess being on The Bachelorette showed me what I'm really looking for. But straight off the bat for me I believe there needs to be undeniable chemistry and attraction; sense of adventure, great sense of humour and 'banter', strong family values and has to be a great kisser!
Question: What's your idea of a perfect date?
Jake Ellis: I feel like I have two perfect dates… I love getting dressed up and going to an amazing restaurant, quiet table, candle, amazing cocktails, wine and food. But at the same time I'm a big kid as well so would love to do something fun! One of my favourite fun spots for that is something like Timezone or a theme park. I feel like it's something you wouldn't expect for a first date, much more of an ice breaker and to just have fun with the person. Gives that feeling of no pressure i guess.
Question: Can you share one of your crazy Tinder experiences?
Jake Ellis: I'm not an avid Tinder user now, but I have used it in the past, before the show. Don't know how my Bachelorette photo would go as my Tinder profile! I'd have to say that my craziest Tinder experience, when I did have the app, was matching with someone, chatting through text for a while and over the phone to the point when we finally met up… all I can say is that the person definitely didn't look like her photos, to the point that I pretty much walked straight passed her when we went to meet up. I may or may not have asked my brother to call me with a fake emergency so I had to leave… The messages I received after that just got more and more crazy so I just sort of unmatched and blocked. Sounds mean but I feel like the whole online dating thing is so warped now... you believe you're talking to a certain someone but then when you actually meet them it's the complete opposite of what you were expecting. I'd much rather meet someone in person for the first time than anything online.
Question: What's on your to-do list, this year?
Jake Ellis: My to-do list this year seems to be growing as the year is rapidly shrinking. But definitely a lot more travel, both throughout Australia and also overseas especially to the U.S or U.K, continue with my business and the exciting things I'm working on for in the media industry (stay tuned) spend time with my family and most of all i think find that special someone finally! In saying that I don't believe you can put a time frame on that happening or force it, it will happen when it happens.
