Experience the excitement and mysteries of deep sea exploration in a range of fun-filled and educational activities these school holidays at the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM), July 9-22, 2018.
The school holiday program is inspired by the major new immersive exhibition James Cameron Challenging the Deep, which takes visitors to the depths of our oceans through the lens of Cameron's underwater cameras and his other incredible technological innovations that have enabled us to see the least known places on earth.
Budding young filmmakers and oceanographers can take part in a creative workshop and get the chance to make their own 3D film which will be featured in a special screening at the ANMM. They'll learn 3D modelling and animation techniques to create weird and wonderful digital sea creatures and mysterious underwater worlds.
An interactive theatre performance at a Deep Sea Sensorium will take children on a journey into the world of strange yet wonderful deep sea life. If quiet time is needed after all that fun, the Deep Sea Lounge offers a relaxed space to read books and take part in creative activities.
Inventors can create underwater submersibles at an engineering workshop (for 8 –14 year olds) and younger children can sculpt their own explorer's vessel or craft a deep sea creature softie during the daily Kids On Deck Deep Sea Mystery activities.
