The Adventures of Purple Funky Monkey - JDS

The Adventures of Purple Funky Monkey - JDS
This is the debut album from the multi-talented Darren Pearce and Julian Napolitano. Named after their rather large club single (Breakspoll nominated as 'Best Single') that won them many fans towards the end of last year, this is an album choc full of memorable tracks that has had a great reaction from the press and taste makers alike.

JDS probably first came to Australian dance fans attention with their monster breaks hit 'Nine Ways' on FFRR several years ago. It was remixed by the Plump DJs, featured on Kid Kenobi's 'Clubbers Guide to Breaks' release and went on to be the biggest breaks track of the year on Australian dancefloors. Since then they've remixed tracks by: Moloko, Morcheeba, Brand new Heavies, Rennie Pilgrem and Orbital to name but a few and gone on to become one of the hottest breakbeat production teams in the world alongside the Plump Djs and the Freestylers.

BIO:
What duo has had everyone from Laurent Garnier to FreQ Nasty & Lee Coombs describe their tunes as 'Blinding' 'Huge' 'Absolutely f**king rockin it' and so on?

That project is JDS. After teaming up with Julian Napolitano (of 'Perpetual Motion'), Darren Pearce and Julian wrote the huge club hit and Ibiza Anthem '9 Ways'. This was snapped up by FFRR Records (after fighting off bids from the likes of Positiva) and only narrowly missed out on a Top 40 place?instead earning itself a place as one of the all time club classics. Never ones to be static, Darren & Julian took the JDS project forward and in 1998 came 'London Town' (Pepper Records), closely followed by 'Destiny Calls' (Incentive) in 1999. More recently they released the huge 'Blackout' on TCR prompting comments of 'Brilliant' from Laurent Garnier and causing Norman Cook to state that JDS "..do the best breakdowns ever!" (Norman Cook has also asked to remix the flip 'Don't Be Alone').

They rocked the Breaks & House worlds yet again with another 'stupidly massive' (James Zabiela) tune 'Purple Funky Monkey'. Radio1 DJ's caned it and it was one of the biggest selling tunes ever on TCR. Their sound has become so in demand that they've remixed everyone from Orbital and Jason Nevins to Rennie Pilgrem in the last couple of months.

Darren Pearce of JDS has been moving dancefloors with his DJ'ing for over 10 years and is increasingly in demand. Recent gigs have included HUM, Underwater, dates in Ibiza & Canada, Spain and more? With future tours planned in South East Asia, Australia and Europe, the JDS experience is likely to be coming to a town near you! Darren has just been taken on by Australian agency 'Fuzzy' who put on the huge 'Field Day' in Sydney.

Expect big things.
