Australian artist, Joel Adams releases his latest single, "Goodbye" ahead of Australian shows with The Veronicas
Brisbane's Joel Adams burst onto the pop scene in 2015, when his debut single "Please Don't Go" went viral around the world and saw him listed on Spotify's 'Top 20 under 20'. Currently the single has amassed over 500 million streams and is the song that kick-started a journey into the deeply earnest and perceptive song writing that sees Joel emerging on the other side in 2021.
Joel's breakout debut found strength in vulnerability, his latest offering, "Goodbye" sees him double down in his sensitivity, unafraid to present himself unabashedly– a daring move in pop music today.
In a musical landscape where idle thoughts are wrapped in high-powered production, Joel stands out, his production carefully shaped to make room for a raw and honest voice with something to say.
"Goodbye is a song about reaching your limits in a relationship. The song touches on the effects of toxic relationships leading to a fault in communication and the end of it. With many things left unsaid, closure seems unattainable, and a clear answer as to why things didn't work out is never met. You always want to end on a good note but sometimes you simply can't say goodbye on good terms." Said, Joel Adams.
After moving to Los Angeles in 2016, Joel released tracks such as "Fake Friends" (a co-write with OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder), "Coffee" and "Big World", dealing with themes of social disillusionment, prolonged heartbreak, and a worldview in flux.
Joel released his first official body of work in March 2020, the Joel Adams EP streamed over 31 million times, he returned to Brisbane as the coronavirus pandemic took hold of the music industry and the world. Since then, Joel has been taking time for reflection and reorientation in the place where it all started, working with some of Australia's best producers and writers.
"Goodbye", shows the result of that reflection. It comes in advance of other releases arriving in June which sees Joel pushing into new territories both sonically and emotionally and a return to the live stage in June with two headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne and opening for Australian pop duo, The Veronicas on their Godzilla v Human Tour.
