Electrifying and infectious, upcoming pop artist JOSHUA has today announced his daring new single ELASTIC, a hypnotic track about the push and pull of job security as an artist. The self-produced single comes off the back of JOSHUA's 2021 EP Albany, a vast, mature pop offering that explored mental health, love, and toxic relationships.
ELASTIC is an exciting and relatable track which sees JOSHUA truly carving out his unique brand of electronic pop. Evocative of CXLOE and Melodrama-era Lorde, ELASTIC moves with great purpose – each vocal line is crafted and tight, while the electronic production that swirls and ricochets around the voice is intriguing and all-encompassing. It's an impressive soundscape, and catchy as anything; it's a joy to hear what JOSHUA can do when he takes full control of production.
ELASTIC is a bit of a red herring – upon first listen, it seems as though JOSHUA is singing about a toxic relationship. He is – but not necessarily of the romantic kind, as he says, "I had this idea of a song being about push and pull. It developed more as I realised my own push-pull was job security. Here I am writing songs and learning that it's what I really want to do but I also need job security to do the music thing."
